Former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah has criticised the head coach of Ghana’s national football team, Avram Grant, over his failure to build and introduce new players into the Black Stars.

According to the former Black Stars manager, there is over reliance on the same set of players.

“The best way is to have a consistent team and then you always build on it, but what we see is that some players come in and you don’t see them again. We are failing to build players behind the team and so we are always lacking and over-dependent on the regular team. This can be done at club level but not the national side; you must have at least three teams always ready to fill in for players,” he told Class Sports.

“We have so many talents in Ghana but we are not putting them to use and we must move away from the dependence on one player.”

The Black Stars are currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) preparing for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Gabon, which kick off on Saturday January 14.
