Ghana’s security agencies have not been given the clearance to recruit new personnel, Deputy Interior Minister Henry Quartey has said.

Mr Quartey said when the Ministry is ready to recruit personnel in the Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Fire Service and the Prison Service, a communiqué will be sent to that effect.

He made this known when he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament on Thursday, 10 August 2017.

“I have the permission from my Minister to inform this house that plans are in place and that when the Ministry is ready to recruit [that is] Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Fire Service, and the Prison Service a formal communiqué will be sent to the parliament house and for that matter the good people of this country will be informed accordingly,” he stated.

“Every citizen of this country must be given a fair and equal opportunity and so when recruitment are advertised, it is only proper for people who are eligible under the criteria to apply without being discriminated against,” he added.
