Second Lady Samira Bawumia has advised pupils of Rahmanyi Islamic Basic School in Tema and pupils across the country to cultivate the habit of studying in order to take advantage of the Free Senior High School programme introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

According to her, a nation can only develop with the right skills and knowledge acquired by future leaders.

The visit to the school is part of the Second Lady's initiative to promote formal education within Muslim communities and also to welcome pupils on their first day in school.

She encouraged the pupils to aspire to greater heights as citizens of the country. She read them a story during her visit.

The headmistress of the school, Zuweira Abubakari, appealed to the Second Lady to help address some challenges facing the school, especially poor electricity supply which she said hinders ICT studies.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Tema, Nii Annan La, said the assembly had rolled out a restoration programme to fence all basic schools within Tema metropolis.
