Staff and nurses at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in the Central Region have given the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu a week’s ultimatum to remove their Medical Director, Dr Eugene Dordoye from the hospital over mismanagement allegations or face their wrath.

Speaking to the media at a press conference held at the Ankaful Hospital, leader of the agitating group, Daniel Danso Sarpong explained that their fundamental human rights are being violated by the director.

"We are cautioning the Ministry of Health: ‘If Dr Eugene Dordoye continues to work at the hospital, we shall not continue to subject ourselves to this kind of mental torture at the workplace. A week’s ultimatum effective today, 8 November to 16 November 2017 is hereby given.”

The staff say they will “abandon the wards and OPD," if their demand is not acceded to.

According to Mr Danso Sarpong, the staff, especially the nurses do not have their peace of mind to take care of patients as they are going through hell in the hands of Dr Dordoye.

They accused Dr Dordoye of accusing staff of wrongful acts and “demeaning us in the presence of student nurses”.

They say Dr Dordoye “misused” the hospital’s money, and, are, therefore, demanding that a Fact-Finding committee sent by the Mental Health Authority which conducted a probe between 20 and 26 October 2017 make its report public.
