The Ashanti regional police command has arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the shooting of two police officers who were returning from duty on Thursday dawn at Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram Plains District of the Ashanti region.

The suspect, Razak Mohammed, 23, was arrested on Thursday around 8:45am at Appiakrom police check onboard a Toyota Haice mini bus en route Kwamang to Nsuta in the sekyere Central District of the Ashanti region.

Police upon a search retrieved a short gun and 12 life AAA cartridges concealed in his travelling bag.

The Ashanti regional police commander, COP Ken Yeboah, who confirmed the arrest to host of Kumasi Morning Show, Nana Kwadwo Jantuah, on Kumasi 104.1FM on Friday, 12 January, 2018 said they sent messages to all police check points and the suspect was arrested upon reaching the area.

"By God's grace, we've been able to arrest somebody and we have started interrogating him," he said.

COP Ken Yeboah, said some witnesses have also been invited to help identify the suspect.
