Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has said the decision by the Acting National Chair of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to gift the party 275 buses for commercial purposes, is good but will not yield the desired results.

He believes the executives will mismanage the buses.

Mr Blay, who is an aspiring National Chairman of the party, revealed on Friday that he intended providing the buses as part of efforts to raise funds for the NPP.

He explained on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme that: “I am supplying buses to all the constituency branches of the NPP. Each constituency will receive a bus from me, personally, for commercial purposes just to raise money for party activities”.

When asked how he will finance the procurement of the buses, he said: “When you are resourceful, you will be able to do that. You don’t need to do that from your own pockets, no, you can’t do it that way; as a politician, you need to be resourceful and be able to raise funds for activities of such kind.”

Commenting on this on Adom TV’s Badwam on Tuesday, 15 May 2018, Mr Agyapong said: “I don’t have a problem with the buses he is buying, but trust me, it won’t affect the lives of the executives and the party in general in the constituencies.

“The executives won’t be able to maintain the buses. Invest the money in other things.

“It won’t work, Freddie Blay was my senior in school but I will tell him this is not a good business idea,” he said.
