Aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has said he intends to ensure that the governing party stays in office for over forty years.

According to him, the NPP has demonstrated that when it stays in office for long, the country will benefit immensely due to the good development ideas the party has.

He told a group of journalists on Tuesday, 15 May that: “We are not looking at eight years, we are not looking at 16 years, we are looking beyond 40 years, we want the NPP to stay in power for 40 years in order to implement good policies for Ghanaians.”

The party is preparing to elect its national executives who will steer affairs for the next four years.

Meanwhile, the party has rescheduled its annual delegates conference slated for 15 – 17 June 2018 to 6 – 8 July 2018.

The move, according to the party, has become necessary to avoid the date clashing with the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations of Muslims.

This decision was arrived at by the party's National Steering Committee at its meeting held on Tuesday, 15 May 2018.

Apart from the date, which has been rescheduled, every other arrangement pertaining to the organisation of the conference, including the venue and electoral arrangement, remain unchanged.

The conference will be held in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region to elect new national executives.
