Residents of Jumapo Zongo in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern region are appealing to local authorities to collect the heap of refuse in the community to prevent any outbreak of diseases.

According to the residents who spoke to Class FM’s Eastern regional correspondent McAnthony Dagyenga , the stench emanating from the refuse is draining their pocket as they have to attend hospital often due to health related infections from the dumping site.

According to them, they have to battle with house flies and the situation becomes worse when it rains.

The residents believe the heap of waste poses a threat to their health adding that the liquid discharged from the dumping site drains to their houses leading to unhygienic conditions.
