The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper Denkyira West, Isaac Nsiah, have cut the sod for the construction of a 24-hour economy market at Denkyira Diaso in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.

The project forms part of the government's 24-hour economy policy and is expected to be completed within three years. It is intended to support economic activity, increase productivity, and create employment opportunities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Eduamoah said the project reflects the government's commitment to local economic development and improving livelihoods.

He noted that the market is expected to serve as a commercial centre where businesses can operate beyond traditional working hours, creating opportunities for traders, farmers, artisans, and young entrepreneurs.

According to the Minister, the project is in line with President John Dramani Mahama's vision of promoting industrialisation and job creation through the 24-hour economy programme.

He expressed optimism that the market would contribute to reducing youth unemployment and stimulate economic activity in the district.

Mr Eduamoah also assured residents of the government's commitment to undertaking additional development projects to address the needs of communities in the area.

The DCE for Upper Denkyira West, Isaac Nsiah, said the project would be completed within the scheduled timeframe and indicated that qualified local artisans and workers would be given opportunities during the construction phase.

He said the approach would enable residents to benefit directly through employment and skills development.

Mr Nsiah also appealed to residents to support the contractors and cooperate with authorities to ensure the successful completion of the project.

On behalf of the traditional authorities and residents, the Chief of Denkyira Diaso, Nana Gyaame, thanked the government for selecting the district as a beneficiary of the initiative.

He described the project as an important development for the area and pledged the support of the chiefs and residents towards its implementation.

The chief and residents, however, appealed to the government and the area's Member of Parliament to prioritise the rehabilitation of roads in the district, citing their importance to the success of the market and other economic activities.

They also called for improvements in other sectors, including education, healthcare, and social infrastructure.
