36-year-old street hawker killed by trotro with failed brakes at Appollo Traffic Light
A 36-year-old street hawker, identified as Naomi Dadzie, has tragically died after being struck by a commercial vehicle (trotro) with failed brakes at the Appollo Traffic Light in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality of the Western Region.
The incident occurred on Monday when the vehicle, reportedly speeding and unable to stop due to brake failure, veered into the pedestrian area.
Naomi, who was carrying out her usual hawking activities, was hit suddenly and without warning.
She was pronounced dead shortly after the accident.
Police have begun investigations into the crash, while residents have renewed calls for stricter vehicle maintenance checks and improved road safety measures in the area.
