Classfmonline has issued an unreserved apology to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) over a publication that erroneously suggested the Authority had introduced mandatory vehicle emission testing.

In a rejoinder issued by its editor, the media outlet acknowledged that the story, published under the headline “DVLA Introduces Mandatory Vehicle Emission Testing,” created a misleading impression about the policies and activities of the DVLA.

According to Classfmonline, the publication contained inaccurate information that did not reflect the official position of the Authority.

The report was subsequently republished by other media platforms, including GhanaWeb and others.

The media organisation expressed regret for any confusion or misunderstanding the publication may have caused among the public, stakeholders, and readers.

“We acknowledge that the publication may have caused confusion among the public and regret any inconvenience or misunderstanding arising from it,” the statement said.

Classfmonline further stressed its commitment to responsible journalism, noting that accuracy, fairness, and due diligence remain central to its editorial standards.

As part of its corrective action, the publication formally retracted any misinformation contained in the story and clarified that the report should not be interpreted as an official announcement or policy directive from the DVLA.

The outlet also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a professional relationship with the DVLA and pledged to strengthen internal editorial processes to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The apology concluded with an expression of regret to the DVLA, its readers, and all affected parties for the error.
