Coalition of Unpaid Nurses demands immediate payment of arrears, threaten strike
The Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives have sounded a strong warning over prolonged delays in the payment of their salary arrears, cautioning that they may withdraw their services if the situation is not resolved promptly.
The group, which says it represents more than 6,000 nurses and midwives across the country, disclosed that while a few members have been paid for just one month, roughly 300 personnel have not received any salary since assuming duty in December 2024.
According to the coalition, the non-payment—now stretching to 11 months—has subjected members to severe financial difficulties. They accused authorities of being insincere in handling the issue, explaining that the Ministry of Health had earlier promised to roll out a structured payment roadmap after the November salaries were cleared, a commitment they say has yet to be fulfilled.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ejisu, Ashanti Region, on Monday, December 15, 2025, the group urged the government to act swiftly and clear all outstanding entitlements without further delay.
The coalition warned that continued inaction could lead to industrial action, a move that could significantly affect healthcare delivery nationwide if urgent steps are not taken.
