Commercial transport operators across the country have issued a strong statement demanding urgent action from the Minister of Roads and Highways over what they describe as the worsening condition of Ghana’s road network.

In a press release dated July 31, 2025, the group, led by Acting Chairman Asonaba Nana Wiredu, expressed deep frustration over what they termed the Minister's failure to move beyond "rhetoric" and deliver tangible improvements to critical road infrastructure.

“While we appreciate his rhetoric on improving the road network, we demand more action and less talking,” the statement read.

The group outlined three major demands:

Tangible Results – Visible and measurable improvements in road conditions across the country.

Accountability – Regular updates on the status of road projects and how allocated funds are being utilised.

Stakeholder Engagement – Direct and consistent dialogue with commercial transport operators and other relevant parties.

The transport operators emphasised that poor roads are not just an inconvenience but a serious threat to their livelihoods, vehicle maintenance costs, and the safety of passengers and drivers alike.

“We are willing to work with him to achieve this goal, but we will not tolerate empty promises,” the group added, urging the Minister for Roads and Highways to take their concerns seriously and act swiftly.
