The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Yusif Suleman, has commended the Volta Regional Office of the Lands Commission for deploying the Enterprise Land Information System (ELIS) and commissioning a Client Service Access Unit to improve land administration services.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Ho, the deputy minister described the initiative as a significant step towards addressing longstanding challenges in the land administration sector.

He noted that for many years, members of the public have faced delays, missing files and cumbersome bureaucratic procedures when accessing land-related services, often travelling long distances only to be referred from one office to another.

According to him, the deployment of ELIS marks the beginning of a more efficient and transparent system that will improve access to services and speed up the processing of applications.

Alhaji Suleman assured stakeholders that concerns relating to office infrastructure, state land demarcation, compensation payments, logistics and staff welfare would be forwarded to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources for consideration.

He also urged staff of the Lands Commission to embrace the reforms and make effective use of the new technology to achieve the intended improvements in service delivery.

A key highlight of the event was the recognition of businessman and philanthropist Francis Tay for his financial support towards the deployment of ELIS in the Volta Region.

Mr Tay said his contribution was driven by patriotism and a desire to give back to the country for the opportunities it had provided him.

He disclosed that after discussions with the leadership of the Lands Commission on the need for digitalisation, he committed resources to support the project and fulfilled the pledge within two months.

Mr Tay expressed confidence that the initiative would improve efficiency, accountability and public confidence in land administration services across the region.
