A poultry farmer at Pantang P&T in the Greater Accra Region has suffered significant losses after heavy rains triggered severe flooding in the area, resulting in the death of over 1,000 chickens.

The incident, which occurred following intense downpours, left parts of the farming facility submerged, making it difficult for the birds to survive the rapidly rising water levels.

The farmer, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, is reported to have been overwhelmed by the scale of the destruction, as the floodwaters swept through the poultry structures and caused extensive damage to equipment and livestock.

The latest incident adds to growing concerns over the impact of recurrent flooding in parts of the Greater Accra Region, where poor drainage systems and heavy rainfall continue to pose risks to livelihoods, agriculture, and infrastructure.

Residents and farmers in flood-prone communities are calling for urgent interventions to improve drainage infrastructure and reduce the vulnerability of farms and homes to seasonal flooding.
