Foreign Affairs Minister leads delegation to condole with family of late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, has led the management and staff of the Ministry to visit the family of the late Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, to commiserate with them following her passing.

During the visit, the Minister paid a heartfelt tribute to the former First Lady, describing her as “an exceptional matriarch who empowered many, particularly women and children, and courageously stood up for the voiceless.”

In his brief eulogy, Mr. Okudzeto-Ablakwa lauded Nana Konadu’s pioneering role in promoting women’s rights and social justice, noting that her impact transcended generations.

“Nana Konadu’s legacy will continue to inspire countless Ghanaians, especially women, to strive for equality, dignity, and national service,” he remarked.

He further expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and assured them of the Ministry’s prayers and support during this difficult period.

“Her distinguished children shall remain in our thoughts and prayers,” the Minister added.

 

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was a prominent political figure, philanthropist, and founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement.

Her contributions to women’s empowerment and national development remain an enduring part of Ghana’s democratic and social history.
