GES interdicts Bole SHS teacher over alleged sexual misconduct
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region pending investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student.
The action follows the circulation of a video on social media that allegedly captures inappropriate conduct between the teacher and a student of the school.
In a statement, the GES said it had taken notice of the incident and had initiated immediate administrative measures while investigations continue.
According to the Service, the teacher has been interdicted in accordance with established procedures to allow for a thorough and impartial examination of the allegations.
GES explained that the decision does not constitute a finding of guilt but is intended to ensure due process as inquiries into the matter proceed.
The Service condemned any form of inappropriate relationship between teachers and students, describing such behaviour as a serious violation of professional standards and ethical responsibilities.
Reaffirming its commitment to student welfare, GES stressed that it maintains a strict policy against sexual misconduct in educational institutions and expects all staff to uphold the highest levels of professionalism.
It further assured the public that any individual found to have engaged in misconduct would face the appropriate disciplinary measures and, where necessary, legal consequences.
The education authority also pledged to continue prioritising the safety and protection of learners across the country.
Meanwhile, management of Bole Senior High School is expected to collaborate with investigators as efforts continue to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
GES indicated that additional information will be made available once investigations are concluded.
