GRASAG National mourns ministers and six others killed in helicopter crash

The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) National has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of eight prominent Ghanaians, including two Cabinet ministers, in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

Among the deceased were Dr. Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment.

The other six victims, described by GRASAG as “distinguished professionals,”.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Solomon Ametor, GRASAG described the loss as “a devastating blow” to the graduate community and the nation.

“We have lost exemplary leaders, mentors, and stalwarts who served the nation with humility, honesty, and integrity,” the statement read.

The Association noted that while the deaths had come as a shock, the legacy of the departed would endure.

“May God grant them eternal rest, and may their spirits inspire the youth to build a prosperous nation,” it added.

GRASAG extended condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues, friends, and the entire nation, offering prayers for strength and comfort during what it called “a profoundly difficult time.”

 

The cause of the helicopter crash remains under investigation by the military.
