KMA orders evacuation along key routes for Santasi-Asokwa dual carriageway project
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has directed traders, mechanics, automobile dealers, and owners of temporary structures along selected roads in Kumasi to vacate the affected areas to make way for the Santasi Roundabout–Asokwa Interchange Dual Carriageway Project.
In a notice issued on Monday, June 8, 2026, the assembly said the evacuation is necessary to allow site clearing and construction works to begin.
The affected areas include the Santasi Roundabout–Asokwa Interchange stretch, the Santasi Roundabout–Holy Mary route along Patasi Road, the road from Santasi Roundabout through Christian Service University to Star Junction, and the Ahodwo Roundabout–Forestry Office route towards Atinga Junction.
KMA has also directed that all billboards within the project area be removed by Thursday, June 11, 2026.
The Assembly announced that landmarks at the Ahodwo and Santasi roundabouts will be removed from June 11 as part of preparations for construction.
Motorists and pedestrians have been advised to exercise caution and cooperate with traffic officials as construction equipment moves into the area.
According to KMA, the project is aimed at easing traffic congestion on one of Kumasi's busiest road corridors.
The assembly has urged all affected persons to comply with the directive to avoid delays to the project.
