Krowor water woes: MP engages authorities, promises permanent solution soon
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Krowor and Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has assured residents of Krowor that concrete steps are being taken to resolve the persistent water crisis that has plagued the constituency for nearly two years.
Speaking on the situation, Dr Lartey described access to clean water as a basic necessity that directly affects sanitation, health, and education. She noted that the prolonged shortage had placed significant strain on families, schools, and businesses within the municipality.
According to her, Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has been working closely with her office to identify the root causes of the supply challenges and implement long-term solutions. While these structural interventions were underway, she emphasised that interim measures, including the deployment of water tankers, were being used to ease the burden on affected households.
Dr Lartey added that the issue had been escalated to the highest levels of government. She disclosed that she had personally engaged President John Dramani Mahama and other relevant authorities to fast-track efforts to restore stable water supply to the constituency.
“We acknowledge the frustrations of our people. This challenge has lasted far too long, but I want to assure every resident that we are working around the clock with GWCL and government agencies to bring permanent relief. The community will soon begin to see the results of these efforts,” she noted.
Residents of Krowor have expressed growing concern over the impact of the crisis on hygiene, especially in schools and densely populated areas. Many said they were hopeful that the renewed government attention would lead to a lasting solution.
The MP reaffirmed her commitment to prioritising the welfare of her constituents and promised consistent updates as progress continued.
