Mahama reaffirms strong Ghana–UK ties as Prince Edward visits Jubilee House
President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the deep and longstanding relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, emphasising that shared values, historical ties, and mutual interests continue to anchor cooperation between the two nations.
Speaking at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House during a courtesy visit by the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, President Mahama noted that global challenges are reshaping international diplomacy and stressed the importance of strengthened multilateralism.
He commended the UK’s leadership on issues such as climate change and highlighted the need for collaborative solutions to safeguard the planet.
The President also praised the impact of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award in Ghana, describing it as a transformative programme that nurtures discipline, creativity, and ambition among young people.
He assured that the government remains committed to supporting and expanding the initiative, adding that Prince Edward’s visit will further enhance its reach and influence.
Prince Edward, for his part, reiterated his dedication to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, calling it a vital tool for empowering the next generation.
He noted that the award continues to equip young people with confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose—qualities essential for navigating an increasingly complex world.
