Muntaka calls for strategic and transparent performance Review to strengthen security governance
The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has called for a more open, transparent, and strategic approach to performance assessment among agencies under the Ministry of the Interior, as part of efforts to strengthen security governance and service delivery across the country.
He made the call at the Ministry’s 2025 Annual Performance Review Workshop held at the Aqua Safari Resort in Ada.
The workshop, themed “Strengthening Security Governance, Accountability, and Service Delivery through Performance Review and Strategic Alignment,” brought together all agencies under the Ministry to assess their operations, share experiences, and align strategies for improved service delivery.
Addressing participants, the Minister highlighted several gains made over the past year, including stronger inter-agency collaboration, progress in digitisation, and improved emergency response systems.
Despite these achievements, he acknowledged persistent challenges facing the sector, including evolving crime trends, increasing border security pressures, and growing public scrutiny over accountability and human rights concerns.
Mr Muntaka urged heads of agencies to approach the review process with transparency and strategic focus, stressing that honest assessments are critical to improving institutional performance.
He encouraged participants to use the workshop as an opportunity to strengthen alignment, sharpen coordination, and reaffirm their collective responsibility to deliver security services that inspire public confidence and contribute to national development.
