The Accra High Court has adjourned proceedings in the GH¢30 million alleged EXIM Bank fraud case involving Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, to July 27.

The court directed the Attorney-General and lawyers for Chairman Wontumi to return on the adjourned date to provide an update on the progress of ongoing plea negotiations.

The parties had initially been granted two weeks by the court to engage in discussions aimed at reaching a possible agreement.

However, when the case was called on Monday afternoon, Senior State Attorney Joshua Sackey informed the court that the negotiations were still at a preliminary stage and requested an adjournment.

The court subsequently granted the request and adjourned the matter to 27 July for a progress update on the negotiations.
