Police arrest man seen giving cigarette to a child in viral video from 5 years ago
The man seen in a viral video administering a substance suspected to be a cigarette to a child has been arrested by officers of the Ghana Police Service (GPS).
Police revealed his name to be Samuel Obeng Acheampong.
The suspect was arrested on Saturday, November 22, 2025, through an intelligence-led operation.
According to police, Samuel O. Acheampong admitted to the offence captured in the video during interrogation, further indicating to police that the incident occurred about five years ago.
In custody, police said the suspect was assisting the investigation, ahead of being put before the court.
"The police service remains committed to ensuring the safety of children and would like to caution the public against acts that expose children to harm, since perpetrators will be pursued and arrested to face the full rigours of the law," a police statement warned.
