Tema Police arrest 6 over warehouse robberies, recover stolen fertilizers and rice

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with two separate warehouse robberies in May and June 2026 that led to the theft of fertilizers and food products worth hundreds of thousands of cedis.

Police said the first robbery occurred on May 25, 2026, when armed men attacked a security guard at a fertilizer warehouse in Kpone and stole 751 bags of 50kg organic fertilizer valued at GHS431,825.

In a separate incident on June 14, 2026, armed robbers overpowered security personnel at Mummy's Recipe Warehouse in Tema Community One and made away with about 2,000 bags of Aaba Rice and other food products.

Following intelligence-led investigations, police traced the stolen items to warehouses within the Tema enclave and identified individuals suspected to be connected to the robberies.

A coordinated operation on June 16, 2026, led to the arrest of Akala Kudus, Shaibu Dauda, Abdul Rahman Moro, Giya Hudu, Razak Seidu, and Francis Ayinsabga.

Police recovered 717 bags of Aaba Rice linked to the Mummy's Recipe Warehouse robbery and 600 bags of fertilizer stolen from the Kpone warehouse. The recovered items have been secured as exhibits.

The suspects remain in police custody assisting with investigations. Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest other accomplices, recover the remaining stolen items, and bring all those involved to justice.

The Tema Regional Police Command has also urged businesses and the public to invest in security measures to improve safety and protect property.
