The Government of Ghana has officially launched its ambitious 24-Hour Economy Policy, a flagship economic growth agenda aimed at driving continuous productivity, job creation, and national development through round-the-clock economic activity.

The policy, launched by President John Dramani Mahama, seeks to shift Ghana’s economy from limited operational hours to a full-time model that empowers the private sector, enhances competitiveness, and attracts investment.

Speaking at the launch event, President Mahama declared, “It’s time to move Ghana’s economy from sleep mode to full-time activity.”

He emphasised that while the government will provide a conducive and enabling environment, the private sector will be at the forefront of this transformational initiative.

The policy framework is anchored on five strategic pillars:

Grow-24: A push to expand and modernise agribusiness for food security and export.

Make-24: Support for manufacturing to drive industrialisation and value addition.

Build-24: Scaling up construction and infrastructure to stimulate job creation and development.

Show-24: Revitalising the tourism and creative arts sectors to boost revenue and cultural promotion.

Connect-24: Significant investment in road and transport infrastructure to improve mobility, logistics, and market access.

President Mahama expressed optimism that the 24-Hour Economy Policy will create new opportunities for businesses, energise Ghana’s workforce, and unlock sustained economic growth.

“With the right support systems in place, Ghanaian businesses and investors will flourish—delivering long-term prosperity for our people,” he said.

The policy is expected to be implemented in phases, with strong collaboration between government agencies, private sector players, and development partners.
