Jasikan assembly, MP donate computers to Jasico Demonstration School to boost digital learning

The Jasikan Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for Buem, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has donated a set of brand-new computers and an internet device to the Jasico Demonstration School, marking a major step toward enhancing digital literacy among pupils in the municipality.

The presentation ceremony, held on the school’s compound, drew a wide range of dignitaries including the Municipal Director of Education, the Regional Director of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), and the Minister for Sports and Recreation. Traditional authorities, School Management Committee (SMC) and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) executives, teachers, and parents were also in attendance to witness the event.

Hon. Adams, who spearheaded the initiative with support from the Assembly and GIFEC, described the donation as an investment in the future of the community. He stressed that access to technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity for students to compete in an increasingly digital world.

The Municipal Chief Executive Parke-Davis Magyigbe, commended the collaboration and assured continued support for educational infrastructure and digital tools across the municipality. 

Meanwhile,The Regional Director of GIFEC,highlighted the organization’s commitment to bridging the digital divide in rural areas by ensuring schools have access to modern ICT facilities.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the school, the Headmistress-Miss. Sarah Akosua Owusu, expressed profound gratitude, noting that the computers and internet connectivity would significantly improve teaching and learning, while encouraging students to develop essential ICT skills.

Local chiefs and elders also lauded the gesture, urging the community to protect and maintain the new facilities for lasting impact.

This donation forms part of ongoing efforts to promote digital learning in Ghana’s Oti Region, ensuring that children in Jasikan and its environs gain the technological skills required to thrive in the 21st century.
