No 13th-month salary for teachers-MoE clarifies
The Ministry of Education has dismissed as false a publication circulating on the Opera News platform which claims that the Minister for Education, Alhaji Haruna Iddrisu, announced plans to introduce a 13th-month salary for teachers.
In a statement, the Ministry described the report as misleading and categorically denied that the Minister made any such comments at a public forum or during any official engagement.
According to the Ministry, the publication amounts to a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and wrongly attribute statements to the Education Minister.
While reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of teachers, the Ministry stressed that no proposal for a 13th-month salary has been announced or advocated by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.
The Ministry has therefore called on Opera News to immediately retract the publication and issue a public apology to both the Minister and the general public.
It further advised the public to disregard the report and refrain from sharing unverified information, assuring that all official policies and announcements will continue to be communicated through the Ministry’s recognised and authorised channels
