Family announces one-week observance for Mrs. Obaa Yaa Afrifa
The family of Mrs. Obaa Yaa Afrifa, wife of the late Lt. Gen. Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa, former Head of State of Ghana, has announced plans to hold a one-week observance in her memory.
In a statement issued to the public, the family said the observance will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the United Church, Teshie Nungua Estates, in Accra.
Mrs. Afrifa passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
She was 91 years old.
The family described her as a devoted wife and a respected figure whose life was marked by grace, dignity, and service.
They noted that details of her final funeral rites will be announced at a later date.
The public has been invited to join the family in honouring her memory and offering prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul.
