Minority Leader accuses Majority and NDC of hypocrisy over anti-LGBTQ Bill
The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has criticised the Majority caucus for what he describes as hypocrisy over their silence on the Anti-LGBTQ Bill.
Speaking at a leadership media engagement in Parliament, Mr. Afenyo-Markin said the same Majority, while in opposition, was vocal in championing the passage of the bill but has remained quiet since assuming power.
He argued that the shift in posture raises concerns about the Majority’s commitment to the legislation.
The Minority Leader accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of exploiting the Anti-LGBTQ Bill as a political tool to gain electoral advantage, only to abandon the issue after winning power.
According to him, the Majority’s current silence is inconsistent with its earlier stance and undermines public confidence in its position on the bill.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin therefore challenged the Majority caucus to reintroduce the Anti-LGBTQ Bill in the current parliamentary session to allow the House to deliberate on it and proceed with its passage.
