Health Ministry urges doctors to accept and not seek to alter postings to hinterlands

Health News
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Health Minister

In the government's efforts to "equitably and fairly distribute doctors across the country," the Mintah Akandoh-led Ministry of Health has urged doctors who are currently going through the recruitment process to accept postings to the available vacancies at the various regions and districts hospitals nationwide.

"This exercise is part of the Ministry's broader commitment to improve evenly distribution of health professionals to ensure quality healthcare delivery nationwide," a health ministry statement emphasised.

The ministry underlined that placement was being done "strictly through the official online portal, and no individual or group has been authorized to collect money or influence postings in any form".

The ministry cautioned eligible doctors against engaging middlemen and giving monies to "any persons who promise to alter or fast-track their postings".

"In our quest to achieve universal health coverage, the Ministry of Health is firmly maintaining its policy of equitable distribution of doctors to all districts," the ministry explained.

The ministry encouraged all qualified doctors to visit their official website to complete their registration before the approved deadline on the portal.
