Mahama, wife sponsor free medical care for retired Assemblies of God pastors
President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Mrs. Lordina Mahama have sponsored a comprehensive free medical screening exercise for retired pastors of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, together with their spouses and widows of late pastors.
The gesture also included free treatment and the distribution of essential medical supplies.
As part of the support, Mrs. Mahama presented special Christmas hampers to each beneficiary.
The package contained assorted items such as fabric, rice, cooking oil, tin tomatoes, Indomie, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The medical outreach, which is the fifth edition of a quarterly initiative, was held at the Ringway Gospel Centre in Accra, where the President and First Lady worship.
The event was graced by the First Lady of Liberia, Mrs. Kartumu Boakai; former First Lady of South Africa, Mrs. Tobeka Madiba-Zuma; and Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, Madam Elizabeth Adjei-Sinare.
Mrs. Mahama, Founder and President of the Lordina Foundation, expressed appreciation to the dignitaries for their show of solidarity with vulnerable groups, particularly retired clergy and widows.
She emphasised the Foundation’s dedication to supporting the needy.
General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, commended the First Family and the Lordina Foundation for what he described as “an unequalled act of magnanimity.”
He explained that medical care remains a heavy financial burden for many retirees, adding that the intervention has provided immense relief to both beneficiaries and the church.
Board Chairman of the Lordina Foundation, Pastor Boateng Sarpong, reaffirmed the Foundation’s continuous commitment to caring for vulnerable individuals and strengthening support systems for those who have served society.
