President Mahama appoints Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo as new CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, following the dismissal of Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah.
The appointment was confirmed in an official statement dated April 30, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to
the President, Callistus Mahama.
The statement directed that Dr. Baidoo’s nomination be regularized in accordance with the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525), as amended.
Dr. Baidoo’s nomination comes amid a wave of public reactions, particularly from sections of the Asante youth, who have expressed strong opposition to the removal of Prof. Addai-Mensah.
Some have called on President Mahama to reconsider the decision and reinstate the former CEO.
