Afenyo-Markin urges Asante students to harness their heritage for national development

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on Asante students to draw on their cultural heritage as a source of inspiration for national development.
He made the appeal while serving as Guest of Honour at the Grand Durbar Homecoming and Handover Ceremony of the Asante Students Union (ASU) at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The event was held under the theme: “Igniting the Asante Spirit: Striving for Development in All Spheres.”
In his address, Mr. Afenyo-Markin stressed that the Asante spirit should not be seen only as a cultural identity but also as a heritage of resilience, innovation, unity, and progress.
He urged the students to rise above partisan divides and embrace these values as a guiding force in contributing to Ghana’s growth.
The Minority Leader commended the outgoing ASU executives for their commitment to building a strong platform that connects young people to their roots.
He further encouraged the newly sworn-in leaders to build on this foundation and dedicate themselves to both student welfare and the larger call to national service.
