Finance Minister praises GoldBod CEO for rapid impact on economic reforms
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has commended the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, for what he described as remarkable achievements within a short period, noting that the progress made under his leadership would ordinarily take several years to accomplish.
Speaking on the performance of the gold-backed policy framework, Dr. Forson said GoldBod has quickly become a critical player in Ghana’s economic recovery efforts, particularly in the areas of reserve accumulation, currency stability and broader structural reforms.
According to the Finance Minister, GoldBod’s operations have strengthened the country’s gold reserve position and contributed to stabilising the cedi, while supporting government efforts to reduce pressure on foreign exchange markets.
“GoldBod has achieved in months what normally takes years,” Dr. Forson said, describing the pace of implementation and impact as unprecedented.
He noted that the institution’s growing role in reserve building and gold-backed interventions reflects effective leadership and alignment with the government’s macroeconomic objectives.
Dr. Forson said the achievements also demonstrate the importance of innovative domestic resource mobilisation strategies in shielding the economy from external shocks.
The Finance Minister expressed confidence that with sustained support and oversight, GoldBod would continue to play a pivotal role in strengthening Ghana’s economic fundamentals and restoring investor confidence.
