Flagbearer race: Adutwum’s camp rejects Global InfoAnalytics poll, insists he's NPP's most formidable candidate

The campaign team of former Education Minister and MP for Bosomtwe, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has dismissed the latest Global InfoAnalytics poll on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer contest, insisting the grassroots remained firmly behind their candidate.
Speaking on Class 91.3 FM’s 505 news programme on Friday, August 22,2025, spokesperson for Dr Adutwum, Opoku Mensah, argued that internal polling by the campaign painted a very different picture from the Global InfoAnalytics findings.
The Global InfoAnalytics survey, released on August 22, and based on the views of 2,656 NPP delegates across 263 constituencies, put former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in a commanding lead with 52%, followed by former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong with 17%. Dr Adutwum, alongside other aspirants, polled less than 1%.
However, Mr Mensah said such external polls underestimated the immediate former education minister’s influence within the party.
“Our internal polls affirm what many already know: Dr Adutwum is a formidable force in this race, with deep roots and a strong home advantage as the MP for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region. Delegates are yearning for a new dawn, and our internal polls confirm that hope lies in Dr Adutwum,” he told 505 host Kwame Okyere Jr (KOJ).
He added that any attempt to downplay Dr Adutwum’s popularity “is dead on arrival,” stressing that support for his candidacy was growing daily.
The NPP will elect its flagbearer for the 2028 general election next year, January 2026.
