GFL Secretary-General praises Mahama’s SONA, urges swift action on ORAL
The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Mr Abraham Koomson, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for delivering what he described as a solid and reassuring 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA), while calling for the urgent acceleration of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative.
According to Mr. Koomson, although the President’s address was comprehensive and forward-looking, the fight against corruption must translate into concrete and decisive action.
He argued that individuals he believes contributed to Ghana’s recent economic challenges are still “walking freely,” a situation he said risks undermining the government’s recovery efforts.
He therefore urged authorities to ensure that ORAL functions swiftly and effectively to restore public confidence in governance.
President Mahama delivered his second State of the Nation Address on Friday, February 27, outlining his administration’s performance across key sectors including health, education, infrastructure, and the economy.
In the address, the President also reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to a purposeful and strategic foreign policy aimed at advancing national development, safeguarding sovereignty, and promoting Ghana’s values internationally.
He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intensified efforts to align Ghana’s external engagements with economic growth objectives and national interests.
Speaking on Ahotor FM on Saturday, February 28, Mr. Koomson praised the President for clearly articulating the government’s achievements and policy direction.
However, he stressed that the success of the administration’s broader economic reset agenda will largely depend on the effective implementation of ORAL.
He maintained that swift accountability measures would serve as a deterrent against corruption, boost investor confidence, and reinforce public trust in the government’s reform programme.
