Ghana celebrates farmers' efforts in nation-building today
Ghana will today, December 5, celebrate the 2025 National Farmers’ Day, recognising farmers and fishers whose efforts continue to sustain the nation’s food security and rural economy.
This year’s observance, the 41st edition, began on Monday, December 1, with the launch of the 2025 National Agricultural Fair at the Ho Sports Stadium.
The fair has attracted thousands of farmers, agripreneurs, policymakers, investors and exhibitors from across the country.
Celebrated under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” the week-long activities highlight agricultural innovations, emerging technologies and strategic partnerships aimed at boosting Ghana’s food systems and enhancing resilience within the sector.
President John Dramani Mahama is expected to lead Friday’s climax by honouring national award winners across various crop, livestock and fisheries categories, as well as other key areas in the agricultural value chain.
Thousands of Ghanaians are also expected to participate in regional and district events where outstanding farmers will be recognised for their productivity, innovation and contributions to community development.
Instituted in 1985, National Farmers’ Day remains one of Ghana’s most celebrated platforms for acknowledging the pivotal role of farmers and fishers in driving national development.
