The Minority in Ghana’s 9th Parliament is set to present a comprehensive assessment of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration on Monday, January 26, 2025, marking one year of what it describes as active and responsible parliamentary scrutiny.

The review, themed “Holding Government to Account: A Year of Active and Responsible Minority Scrutiny in Ghana’s 9th Parliament,” will evaluate the government’s performance across key sectors, including the economy, governance, job creation, energy, education, health, and infrastructure.

According to the Minority, the assessment forms part of its constitutional duty to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources.

The group says it has, over the past year, consistently raised concerns on policy direction, fiscal discipline, rising cost of living, and the pace of socio-economic reforms under the Mahama-led government.

Minority leaders are expected to highlight what they describe as policy inconsistencies, unmet campaign promises, and governance lapses, while also acknowledging areas where progress has been made.

The presentation is anticipated to spark renewed public debate on the state of the nation, as the Minority positions itself as a watchdog committed to safeguarding democratic accountability and protecting the interests of Ghanaians.

Political analysts say the review will set the tone for parliamentary engagements in the year ahead, particularly as economic pressures and governance reforms remain central to national discourse.
