KEEA Municipal Assembly acquires pickup, refuse containers to boost sanitation and revenue collection
The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Assembly has mobilised funds from its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) to procure a brand new pickup vehicle and five refuse containers aimed at improving revenue mobilisation and addressing sanitation challenges within the municipality.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the Assembly to strengthen logistics for effective monitoring of revenue collection points and enhance waste management across communities.
Briefing the media, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Ismeal Zagoon Saead, explained that upon assuming office, the Assembly was confronted with significant logistical constraints, particularly the lack of adequate vehicles and equipment to support revenue collection activities.
He noted that these challenges had affected the Assembly’s ability to monitor key revenue points effectively, thereby impacting local revenue performance.
Hon. Saead further highlighted that improper waste disposal in some communities had become a major sanitation concern, necessitating urgent intervention to improve environmental cleanliness and public health standards.
According to him, the newly acquired pickup vehicle and refuse containers will significantly enhance the Assembly’s capacity to collect revenue efficiently while also improving waste collection and disposal systems across the municipality.
He added that the intervention reflects the Assembly’s commitment to improving service delivery and ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable environment for residents.
The MCE assured residents that the Assembly will continue to invest IGF resources into priority areas that directly impact development and quality of life in the municipality.
