The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the government of President John Dramani Mahama of using state security agencies and the judiciary as tools of intimidation against political opponents.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, said the NPP has consistently drawn the government’s attention to what it describes as the growing politicisation of law enforcement and judicial processes.

He noted that the party has organised several demonstrations and media briefings to remind the President and his administration that Ghana remains a nation governed by the rule of law, not political influence.

“We have urged the NDC government to end the continuous weaponisation of state security and the judiciary against political opponents, but unfortunately, our calls have fallen on deaf ears,” Mr. Kodua stated.

He further alleged that certain actions taken by security agencies in recent months appear to target members of the opposition, warning that such practices undermine national unity and public confidence in the country’s democratic institutions.

The NPP reaffirmed its commitment to using peaceful and legal means to resist what it describes as attempts to suppress dissent, urging civil society and religious bodies to speak out against political interference in state institutions.
