Political Parties must adapt to technology- Joshua Osih

Political parties on the continent of Africa have been challenged to take advantage of and adapt to the changes global trends occasioned by technological advancement, in order not to get left behind.
The call was made by Mr. Joshua Osih, President of the Social Democratic Front, while speaking on a panel at the African Political Parties Summit 2025.
Mr Osih addressed the gathering on the changes being effected within Political communication and strategy with the advent of Artificial Intelligence. He emphasised the need for Political Parties to consciously factor Artificial intelligence into their operational frameworks, as it has now become a part of the world.
He, however, cautioned that while social media has revolutionised Political communication for the better, care must be taken in making use of it to minimise its associated risks.
"Social media has shortened attention spans. AI can help distil Political programs into content tailored to individual voters", he said. He opined that African Political Parties must be open to new ways of doing things that embrace technology.
The African Political Parties Summit, which is in its second day, is expected to come to an end tomorrow, August 14, 2025.
