“We are going to reset Accra” – new AMA Mayor vows bold transformation

The newly confirmed Mayor of Accra, Mr Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has vowed to lead a bold transformation of the capital city, pledging to align Accra’s development agenda with President John Dramani Mahama’s national vision to “Reset Ghana.”
Speaking during his confirmation ceremony on Tuesday, where he secured unanimous approval with 100 per cent of votes from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) members, Mr. Allotey signalled a fresh start for the capital.
“We are going to reset Accra from now on. It begins now,” he declared, drawing loud applause from Assembly Members and invited dignitaries.
The Mayor emphasised that the city’s reset will reflect the values of inclusive growth, accountability, and transformational leadership, echoing President Mahama’s broader call for a nationwide renewal.
“Accra will not be left behind. As the seat of government and the heartbeat of our nation, Accra must lead by example in this national rebirth,” Mr. Allotey stated.
