The Gambia launches national digital identity system with support from Margins ID Group
The Gambia has officially launched its National Identity Management System (GAM ID), marking a major milestone in the country's digital transformation agenda through a partnership with Margins ID Group.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by President Adama Barrow, senior government officials, development partners and executives of Margins ID Group, led by the company's Chief Executive Officer, Moses Kwesi Baiden Jr..
In a symbolic moment during the event, President Barrow became the first recipient of the new Gambian Citizen ID, officially launching the country's digital identity programme aimed at providing secure and inclusive identification services for citizens.
A major feature of the initiative is the inauguration of a state-of-the-art National Data Centre, which will serve as the backbone of the GAM ID system by securely managing identity data and supporting the delivery of trusted digital identity services across the country.
As part of its support for the rollout of the programme, Margins ID Group also donated vehicles to facilitate nationwide registration and improve access to enrollment services, particularly in remote communities.
The launch of GAM ID represents a significant step in The Gambia's efforts to modernise public service delivery and strengthen digital governance through a secure national identity infrastructure.
Margins ID Group said the project reflects its broader vision of advancing secure, innovative and inclusive digital identity systems across Africa to support governments, businesses and citizens.
