18 clubs confirmed for 2026/27 GPL season
The line-up for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League has been confirmed, with 18 clubs set to compete in the country's top-flight competition.
Three clubs will make their premier league debut after securing promotion from the Division One League. Port City earned promotion as champions of Zone Three, Ashantigold '04 topped Zone Two, while Debibi United won Zone One.
The promoted sides join 15 returning clubs, including defending champions Medeama SC, who will begin the new season looking to retain the title they won in the 2025/26 campaign.
The composition of the league follows the relegation of Nations FC and Eleven Wonders, who dropped to the Division One League after failing to maintain their Premier League status. Hohoe United also exited the competition after withdrawing from the league.
The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season will begin over the weekend of September 4 to 7, 2026, and conclude on the weekend of May 28 to 31, 2027.
The Ghana Football Association said the league will retain its current competition format, with most matches scheduled for weekends to maximise attendance and fan engagement. Midweek fixtures will be reserved for outstanding matches.
The Football Association said it remains committed to delivering a well-organised and uninterrupted league season for clubs, players, match officials and supporters.
