An American football fan who fell in love with Ghana and the Black Stars during the 2006 FIFA World Cup has finally met his idol, former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, nearly 20 years later.

According to sports journalist Michael Oti Adjei, the fan, identified as Jason, first became a supporter of Ghana while watching the World Cup in Singapore in 2006. Inspired by Appiah's performances and the Black Stars' historic campaign, he developed a lasting connection to Ghanaian football and culture.

Over the years, that connection extended beyond the game. Jason went on to marry a Ghanaian woman and embraced Ghanaian culture as a significant part of his life.

In a moment he had waited almost two decades for, Jason recently travelled to Rhode Island wearing his Stephen Appiah No. 10 Black Stars jersey to meet the former captain in person.

The meeting gave him the opportunity to secure an autograph from Appiah, fulfilling a dream that began during Ghana's memorable World Cup debut in Germany in 2006.

The story, shared by Michael Oti Adjei on social media, highlights the enduring impact of Ghana's 2006 World Cup team and the lasting connection many supporters around the world continue to have with the Black Stars and their former captain.
