The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that Ghana is in discussions with Wales to arrange a friendly match ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars are preparing for the global showpiece, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Head coach Otto Addo has already lined up warm-up games against Austria on March 27 at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, and Germany on March 30 in Stuttgart.

Ghana is also scheduled to face Mexico in May, with the exact venue and date yet to be confirmed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Speaking before a Parliamentary Committee on Thursday, Mr Adams revealed that negotiations are ongoing with Wales to secure an additional pre-tournament friendly.

The four-time African champions will be making their fifth World Cup appearance, drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

Ghana will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and finish the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

After consecutive group-stage exits in recent tournaments, the Black Stars are focused on improving their performance and making a stronger impact on football’s biggest stage.
