The Government of Ghana has earmarked GHS 150 million to support the Black Stars as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced the allocation on Thursday, November 13, 2025, during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement in Parliament.

He said the funding is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen national teams and boost sports development across the country.

“The government’s sustained investment in sports yielded impressive results, with the Black Stars qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” Dr. Forson noted.

“An amount of GHS150 million has been allocated for the Black Stars to participate in the World Cup.”

Dr. Forson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernising sports infrastructure and nurturing young talent nationwide.

As part of this effort, plans are underway to construct new stadiums in select regions to improve access to quality sporting facilities.

Ghana will discover their group-stage opponents when the official World Cup draw takes place in Washington, D.C., on December 5, 2025.
