Hundreds of residents of Akanteng in the West Akim district of the Eastern Region got stranded on Thursday morning following a heavy downpour which caused the Sushan River to overflow its banks.

Vehicles were unable to cross to the other side, as the streets got flooded, thus, dealing commercial activities a deafening blow.

Several schoolchildren have been stranded, as attempts to cross the road from Akanteng to Krobeso and vice versa have been unsuccessful.

The chief of Akanteng, Nana Appiah Darkwah III, is pleading with the government to fix the roads for them.
