The lawyer for the assistant headmaster of Kumasi High School (KUHIS), Bismark Nsiah-Aboagye has said his client who was accused of sodomy is innocent and has therefore called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to either take another look into the matter or reassign him.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) suspended the assistant headmaster of KUHIS, George Amponsah-Duodu following preliminary investigations after accusations of sodomy was levelled against him by four students of the school in November 2018.

However, a Kumasi High Court quashed the investigative report that found the assistant headmaster guilty of the alleged act.

Mr Nsiah-Aboagye has therefore called on the GES to reassign his client to serve in another school.

“The effect of this ruling is to the effect that whatever disciplinary committee measures that the five-member committee that High School people did, chaired by Mr Edward Nimo is virtually void on the principle of breaching that fundamental rule of natural justice which is an integral part of our jurisprudence that you fail to hear one side of the story.

“They cannot proceed to do anything again, because whatever formed that basis never existed. We’ve served the High School headmaster and the regional directorate with the ruling of the court because they’re our employers so we need to go back and inform them.

“Our client has since been promoted to the rank of headmaster and so we’re hoping that his employers, the Ghana Education Service will take a second look either to start the whole allegations of homosexuality sodomy again or probably allow matters to lie for our client to be reassigned either to go and head a different school,” Mr Aboagye told Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, 6 February 2019.
